Yesterday team India was knocked out from the ongoing ICC World Cup in England and Wales.

In the 1st semi-final of 2019 edition India was playing against New Zealand.Team India out of second consecutive world cup semi final. India has been knocked out in the semi finals for the 4th time. India was playing exceptionally well throughout the tournament and its only loss came against the host England.

In the first semi final New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. India bowled tight line and length and New Zealand managed to score a par score of 239. In reply team India fell short by 18 runs. The main reasons behind this disappointment are as follows-

  1. In an interview after the match Indian captain Virat Kohli said 45 minutes of poor cricket lost us a place in finals. According to the Indian captain first 45 minutes of the second innings were very crucial and all they had to do was to keep wickets in hands. He further said our shot selection could have been better.
  2. OVER DEPENDENT ON TOP 3 BATSMAN- Throughout the tournament team top three batsmen have scored most runs and the middle order was not exposed. Everytime a team cannot depend only on top order. They will certainly win matches but to win a tournament each and every player has to contribute.
  3. An inexperienced middle order was always a concern for team India. There were a lot of changes in the middle order during the world cup and this will haunt the selection committee for a long time.
  4. Every time team India depends on MS Dhoni to finish the match. Matches cannot be finished by the same player again and again.
  5. Injuries also played an outside role. Due to injury to the opening batsman Shikar Dhawan middle order batsman KL Rahul had to play as an opener. Another injury ruled out the middle order batsman Vijay Shankar which forced the selection committee to play with an inexperienced middle order.

It was heartbreaking for every Indian fan. Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli thanked the fans by tweeting
